Give students the ability to just view files instead of downloading them.
When posting a document to a discussion group it gives the students a button that will download the file for them. There are two issues with this approach - They may be on a device or in a location where saving is not appropriate, helpful or available (on an iPad, for example). The suggestion is that we give them more than one button - perhaps a "View" and a "Save As"

Have keyboard shortcuts for navigation
Have keyboard shortcuts to quickly navigate through posts and threads (I.e. Like the way you can move from message to message, and from conversation to conversation in Outlook (up and down arrows), being able to collapse and expand conversations with the right and left arrows).

New notification for Digital Dialog tab
When I have new messages on Learning Suite there appears a red notification next to the message icon. I would like a similar system for myself and for my students to notify me (and them) that there is a new message or response on digital dialog. I know that there already exists this notification once you open the digital dialog tab but it would be very helpful if there could appear a notification connected to the main tab. It could be red like the message notification.

Increase the maximum length of Digital Dialog videos
From IA Training with Lisa Tanner Christensen: She would like to be able to upload videos (class lectures) that are the length of the class period (1.5 hrs). This could either be in Digital Dialog or Content.

Digital Dialog - student list
When viewing Digital Dialog from the student perspective (instructor view), please give options for how to list the discussions, e.g. alphabetical, number of replies, date, original order, etc. It is difficult to see what I'm trying to find when it seems like a haphazard listing.

Disable notifications for specific chain emails
You should be able to mute notifications on specific email threads. This way, students can silence uninteresting email threads, so that when they get a notification they can have higher confidence that it will be relevant to them.

Integrate piazza as an alternative to digital dialog
I really like the idea of digital dialog, but found it too limiting. I’ve used Piazza for the last few years in all my classes and it’s been well received and effective for helping students get help with homework questions and projects. I don’t recall all the differences but offhand it allows for notifications, anonymous comments, editing comments, student generated threads, and a mobile app. It would be great if Piazza was directly integrated as an alternative to digital dialog. Would require LTI support first, which I see is already in progress.

Digital Dialog Groups default to hiding dialogs and only showing groups
On the group page of digital dialog, it is difficult to fix groups (change group names, add or subtract students, or even scroll to the bottom to see if all the students are in groups) when the default on the page is to show all the groups AND all the dialogs. Better would be to default to the groups with dialogs hidden. (See screen shot below for what would be better. To catch this shot took me 5 minutes of scrolling and clicking)

Show notifications in drop-down menus
When I read comments posted in Digital Dialog that are sorted by individuals, I see one student's comment at a time. Rather than having to back out of Digital Dialog, go back to the discussions list, find notifications for new responses and repeat the process over and over, the following would be much more convenient:
When I open a student's comment, there is a drop-down menu above with all of the students' names. Can there be some kind of notification dot or highlight on that list next to their name so I know which students have new comments? It would…2 votes -

multiple due dates on digital dialog
I require my students to post and respond after others have posted, it would be helpful if we could have multiple due dates so they show in the schedule and students don't have to watch and wait for others to post.

Digital Dialog groups by class sections
Rather than creating groups manually, it would be MUCH easier if there were an option to divide groups by class sections. As it stands, we have to keep track of adding, dropping, switching sections, etc. and try to keep students plugged into manually created groups.

It would be helpful to be able to export the Discussions in Digital Dialog
It would be helpful to be able to export the Discussions in Digital Dialog so I can manage them later in MS Word. Or even PDF would be fine.

Y-Messages from previous semesters shouldn't continue as notifications
The only way to get rid of the message notification is to click on the message and read it. There are classes where students will babble about nothing important and the professor will never use this method for important things. If you want to get rid of them, you have to go through all previous semesters and click to view each individual message.
