  1. Be able to exclude an individual student's grades from overall/assignment statistics without having to leave score blank

    Some students never show up yet they don't withdrawal from class. They, officially, have a zero in their scores and their overall grade. It would be wonderful to eliminate their zero scores from the assignment statistics and, if they do happen to have one score in the class, it would be nice to be able to exclude their super low grade from overall grade statistics. This would allow for a more accurate statistical view of the class.

  2. Editing Annotations in Grader

    After creating an annotation, I am permitted to edit it later by simply clicking on it and typing in the textbox. However, the edit will not be saved unless I click the "pencil" (edit) button in the top left, and then click save.

    Could it be that 1) either the annotations can not be edited without first clicking the pencil or 2) edits are immediately saved upon exiting the annotation (and remove the pencil altogether)?

  3. room and hours

    I really expect the basic information of the course to be front and center on the home page. namely When and Where do we meet. Has always confused me that this is not on the "Home" or "Dashboard"

  4. Make it possible to create assignments and use the gradebook in a future course!

    Make it possible to create assignments and use the gradebook in a future course! I have a TA working on assignments for three different courses. One of these is in the future, so the "Gradebook" is unusable until there are students enrolled. Seems like an odd limitation.

  5. Enable notifications for when students have read/accessed feedback given on grades.

    I spend a lot of time typing comments that accompany scores that I record. It would greatly help if I knew whether or not students had seen that feedback.

  6. survey

    Would be nice to have a survey option in the exams. If selected, there would be no "correct" answers required and individual student responses would not be visible. (only show the statistics on the answers). The instructor only sees who has completed the survey. Ideally, you could give some credit for completion alone.

    It would need to be labeled as a survey rather than an exam so that students would recognize the difference.

  8. Easily and visually see which items are "published" or not on a schedule

    I often forget to publish existing quizzes b/c they're already listed on the instructor's schedule whether they're published or not. Could you highlight or otherwise indicate which items are "published" or "not published" on the schedule?

  9. Create Content and other pages for multiple courses at one time

    I have multiple courses that all use the same content pages. I would like the ability to create a content page outside of a course and then choose which courses to upload that page. Preferably, these content pages could be like the files tab when you select mycourses. It would be a page independent of a course where you could store frequently used files, or in this case, saved content pages.

    Some of these content pages are not consistent each semester so rather than create these pages each year for that semester or term, the ability to save these content…

  10. Enable multiple lecture periods on same day to facilitate transferring courses from F/W to Spring, etc.

    When transferring a course from a regular Fall/Winter semester to a Spring/Summer term, two days need to be combined into one section. Going in the opposite direction, one day needs to be divided into two sections. If we could simply have two lectures on a given day (which is actually the way we teach classes in the Spring), the required changes would be considerably simplified.

    In other words, on the first day of class in the Fall (e.g., Monday) I
    teach Lecture 1. On the next class day (e.g., Wednesday) I teach Lecture 2. In the Spring I teach Lecture…

  11. Eliminate scroll ability in the score box.

    Eliminate scroll ability in the score box associated with the annotation screen. Many times have I inputted a grade after I've left feedback and, because of the scroll feature (the ability to use the up and down arrows to increase or decrease the score number), I have mistakenly changed the grade that I had already inputted. I can't think of why the scroll feature is needed with the score box in the first place.

  12. Default box size for open response questions

    Currently the default open response box size is 1 which is probably the size least likely to be used by anyone. I think a default of 10 would be more appropriate or even better give users the option of selecting their own default size for all their open ended questions.

  13. Integrate piazza as an alternative to digital dialog

    I really like the idea of digital dialog, but found it too limiting. I’ve used Piazza for the last few years in all my classes and it’s been well received and effective for helping students get help with homework questions and projects. I don’t recall all the differences but offhand it allows for notifications, anonymous comments, editing comments, student generated threads, and a mobile app. It would be great if Piazza was directly integrated as an alternative to digital dialog. Would require LTI support first, which I see is already in progress.

  14. Show notifications in drop-down menus

    When I read comments posted in Digital Dialog that are sorted by individuals, I see one student's comment at a time. Rather than having to back out of Digital Dialog, go back to the discussions list, find notifications for new responses and repeat the process over and over, the following would be much more convenient:

  15. Integrate Turnitin Grademark into LS

    Turnitin's Grademark system is VASTLY superior to the built-in Learning Suite grading interface. It's far more functional, adaptable, user friendly, and works on iPad. I know that you've already added a button to automatically transfer the Grademark scores - it only works occasionally and, even when it does, sometimes transfers the wrong scores, but that's a different discussion. The main problem is that students have a hard time finding the Grademark feedback. I recommend replacing the unusable LS grader altogether with Grademark and setting it up so students can access the feedback with a single click.

  16. I would love to have a testing option that will conclude the test if students exit out of it.

    I would like to be able to have my students take a written test on their computer without the distraction/implications for cheating of other online materials. So perhaps having an option that would have the test submit once the student exits out of it or goes to another webpage.

  17. Add Columns to content pages

    When I add information to a content page, it is usually a link to pdf or excel files. I typically get a long list of short content links. It would be nice to have two columns so that more information could be visible to the student at once.

  18. Put '+add new assignment' button on the schedule editing page

    I had a professor using announcements and schedule in such a way that most of the students had a hard time following it. You should make a button on the "edit schedule" page to add assignments, maybe ones that appear as you scroll over dates or a dropdown box that allows you to choose in one click wether to make a lecture subject, an assignment, etc. That way students don't have to always be guessing, or shifting through all the details on the scheduling page. Of course, this is not a problem for teachers who are used to Learning suite.…

  19. Show Class Session Number on Schedule

    It would be very helpful to have an optional column next to the date in the schedule that simply lists class period 1, class 2, class 3...

    This would help me organize things as I copy a class from semester to semester. Sometimes it's easier to think in terms of Day 17, rather than whatever date it is.

  20. On "Instructor View" make it easy to identify the assignments that are still hidden from the students (i.e. label it as (hidden)).

    I have kept certain assignments hidden from students in some cases because I have to edit them or for other reasons. As of now, to know if an assignment is hidden one has to check the "Scheduling" tab in the Assignment window or one has to switch to "Student View" and compare it with the "Instructor View." It would be nice to be able to easily identify if assignments are hidden from students without having to check the "Student View." I suggest a simple paraphrase after the assignment that labels it (hidden).
