  1. If the rubric max total does not match the assignment points, alert, and allow the assignment points to be updated.

When I create an assignment, it is given a default value of 25 points. If I add a rubric before I save the assignment, the assignment points are updated to the max rubric points.

If I save the assignment, then add the rubric later, the points will not update. This is sometimes a problem if I modify a rubric or assignment.

When an assignment is saved, can you check that the rubric and assignment points match and alert the user if they don't? Also give the option to set the assignment points to the rubric total.

  3. On "Instructor View" make it easy to identify the assignments that are still hidden from the students (i.e. label it as (hidden)).

I have kept certain assignments hidden from students in some cases because I have to edit them or for other reasons. As of now, to know if an assignment is hidden one has to check the "Scheduling" tab in the Assignment window or one has to switch to "Student View" and compare it with the "Instructor View." It would be nice to be able to easily identify if assignments are hidden from students without having to check the "Student View." I suggest a simple paraphrase after the assignment that labels it (hidden).

  4. Allow deletion of pre-populated information on schedule

Right now, deleted exam prep days (for example) seem to reappear when I delete them. Since I'm teaching at the London Centre, Provo dates don't apply... I'd like to be able to make holidays disappear, too. I realize that I'd be doing this at my own peril.

  8. zeros

When a student doesn't turn in an assignment, the TA naturally leaves it blank rather than entering a zero (he/she just enters the scores for the assignments that were submitted). I know I can set the final grades to automatically zero unscored items, but I also want to drop the two lowest homework scores. Currently, Learning Suite recognizes a zero as one of the two lowest scores, but doesn't consider dropping empty scores, and therefore might drop an assignment where a student scored 4/10 over another which the student never submitted (and will eventually be counted as 0/10). Currently, of…

  9. Table Feature -

The ability to insert a small (basic) table onto content pages and syllabus pages would be extremely helpful for organizing information in a more efficient and effective manner. Lists are great (thank you) but some information really needs tabular form..

  10. Let's call the Exams page Quizzes. Either let us rename the tab to what we want, or call the page Quizzes.

I would love the main tab for Exams to be called Quizzes, not Exams. In reality, exams are typically given at the testing center and quizzes are done online through learning suite in the 'exams' section. Maybe some instructors use the quiz mechanism to give an exam, but I don't know any that do - and most of us just use it for quizzes. Is there any possibility you would consider changing the default name of the tab/page to be Quizzes? Alternatively, could be given control of the tab name to rename it Quizzes ourselves (in which case the default…

  11. Allow students to access to view all quizzes (exams) after the closing date.

Currently students can only go back and view the exams they took. If they missed an exam they can't see it after the close date.

  13. Wrap text around jpg or mov

It would be great to have a button with which to wrap text (similar to wordpress).

  14. Add special character palette for foreign language courses

Some answers on exams and other assignments require special characters, especially in foreign language courses. It would be quicker and easier for some students to have a selection of special characters available with the click of a button, e.g. those with a non-Mac laptop who don't have a number pad.

  15. Rubrics: show the total points while creating the rubric

I create separate rubrics for each assignment, so I have quite a few rubrics.

It would be nice to have a "total" (or I supposed "total max") points at the bottom of the rubric creation modal. Yes, I can do math, but it's quicker and easier if a running total is displayed, and that should be an easy fix.

A running total would make it easier to divvy up points so that I make sure an assignment hits a certain number of points.

  16. Allow the instructor/TA to print papers directly from the BYU grades tab

Currently, if I want to print the paper of a student, I need to first download the file and then open it in Windows Word or some other program, and THEN print it. It would be nice if there was a way to print it straight from the Learning Suite page

  18. Y-Messages from previous semesters shouldn't continue as notifications

The only way to get rid of the message notification is to click on the message and read it. There are classes where students will babble about nothing important and the professor will never use this method for important things. If you want to get rid of them, you have to go through all previous semesters and click to view each individual message.

  20. assignment grading focus

When on the online assignment grading screen, on screen load please focus the cursor on the "score" box. It is an inconvenience to have to click on that box for every student.
    Thanks!
