  1. Ability to adjust vertical spacing in text.

Ability to adjust vertical spacing in text. For example, tables that are copied into the syllabus have a double spaced vertical height per row making them twice as tall as they need to be.

  3. Allow deletion of multiple days on the schedule. Such as delete all Mondays etc.

My schedule shows all days of the week, yet we only meet once a week. Please make an easy way to set-up or delete many days of the week.

  4. Ability to download a version of the student's uploaded assignment that includes the notes I've added.

For instructors who need to submit (for faculty review or employment renewal) samples of student work WITH instructor's comments, I'd like the ability to download and save copies of my students' papers (that have been uploaded through Learning Suite) that INCLUDE my added notes (feedback). The feedback/notes disappear when I "download," so that all I see is the student's text.

  5. Expand the question text to full screen and have scroll bars for when it doesn't fit

When I added an embedded image to a Learning Suite question, the small question box wouldn't scroll to enable me to edit it very well. I had to switch to HTML mode to add text to the end. It would be nice if I could expand the question text to full screen and had scroll bars for when it didn't fit. I have attached an image of the question when I was trying to edit and what it looked like after I added the rest of the text in HTML mode.

  6. allow instructors to customize dashboard

Right now, the dashboard contains announcements and the schedule. This is not that useful to me. I am posting material in a content page that I feel needs to be on the front page of the course. Sometimes the content that I want on the front page will change at different points in the semester. It would be nice for professors to have more complete control over the front page on learning suite. Students sometimes have a hard time finding information because it is hidden from the front page.

  7. Enable multiple lecture periods on same day to facilitate transferring courses from F/W to Spring, etc.

When transferring a course from a regular Fall/Winter semester to a Spring/Summer term, two days need to be combined into one section. Going in the opposite direction, one day needs to be divided into two sections. If we could simply have two lectures on a given day (which is actually the way we teach classes in the Spring), the required changes would be considerably simplified.

In other words, on the first day of class in the Fall (e.g., Monday) I
teach Lecture 1. On the next class day (e.g., Wednesday) I teach Lecture 2. In the Spring I teach Lecture…

  8. WebServices Interface

Have a webservices interface to gradbook (and possibly other services). Then we could write our own external content and question types and post the grades back to LearningSuite.

  10. Change syllabus default to view instead of edit after it has been created.

The default for the instructor is as if each time he/she goes onto Syllabus.byu.edu that our goal is to set up a new syllabus. Why can't the default view be adjusted to going directly to a specific point of entry (as is possible with Blackboard, Instructure/Canvas, etc.)?

  11. Put in a disclaimer when previewing exams in student view that the students cannot see the exam until the open date

Garrett said "I thought I was viewing the site as a student would. It would be helpful to include this information in the page help or have a disclaimer in the "Student View" that states that the exam list page is an exam preview mode and that the previews are not available for student viewing."

He would like some sort of disclaimer when viewing exams in student view that let people know that students won't actually be able to view and take the exam before the exam start date. Since in student view the professor\TA is able to view the…

  12. Set a date for when students can no longer see answers to exams

set a close date on when exam answers are visible. So what he wants is to have a quiz available for a week. After the students take the quiz he wants them to see their answers and the right answers, but only for one week after the quiz. He doesn't want the questions available all semester since he uses quiz questions for his exam pools. He wants to avoid students cramming and his questions leaking between semesters.

  14. Text copied from other sources should be pasted into the Learning Suite without retaining original formatting.

The text editor has some problems. If text is pasted in from different sources the font and other attributes end up being quite heterogeneous. One would expect that highlighting everything and choosing "normal" would force all the text to have the same font, size, etc. But this doesn't happen! If I choose the html view, I can see that some text has span tags forcing it to be arial with various attributes, but other text doesn't have these tags. This is very frustrating when trying to create a unified look and feel for a page full of links and other…

  16. Have an answer section under "Add/Modify Short Answer question" so that you can see possible answer when grading

Mike called in to discuss the transfer of one of his courses from Blackboard to Learning Suite. The course is EC EN 320 Digital System Design. The feature in Blackboard that Mike would like to see in Learning Suite is the "Answer" section under "Add/Modify Short Answer Question." Because that feature is not found yet in Learning Suite, all of Mike's test answers are buried somewhere in.dat files and are not in any area that is easily accessible to his TA to use when grading the short answer portion of the online exams.

Essentially, Mike would like Learning Suite to…

  17. Exam import from another system

It would be nice to be able to upload a word document, or something like that, rather than having to compose quizzes/exams online.

  19. After you have created the content pages, the default should be view instead of edit

Once I am done creating my content pages, I generally return to look at them and see what I have versus coming back to change them. It would be more useful to have "preview" be the default view, and have to click a button to edit the pages.
