  1. Find Student on Gradebook

    I would like to be able to type a student's name when grading an assignment to jump to their name instead of scrolling until I find it.

    • Enable email notification for Digital Discussions in classes which use it

      A few classes I know of use "Digital Discussions" as a kind of forum for discussing the class. It would be nice if I could receive notifications via e-mail when others post, either in general or in only threads which I have commented.

          • Assign grades to Groups of students

            We do a lot of team work besides individual assignments. It would be very useful to assign a score to the entire team at once because there is only one submission per team. This could be according to the Digital Dialog Groups or some other functionality enabled in the grader.

            • Ability to hide a page until a score has been entered on a particular Gradebook assignment

              I often have students who are sick turn in homework late. I would like to make the solution key to the homework available only to those students who have submitted the assignment (and therefore have a score entered on gradebook. Right now LS lets you hide/publish a page based on *date*. I would like to hide page X for a student until there is a score for assignment Y.

                In the BYU grades section, homework score entry could better be streamlined by allowing instructors to type in part of a student's name, and then jump to the first student whose name matches. For example: say I'm currently at the Z section of last names and I want to enter a score for a student whose name is Adams, I just type in an A and the table automatically jumps to the A's, I click the correct student and box, saving me 15 minutes of repeatedly scrolling for 100+ students.

                • Allow learning objectives to be copied when duplicating a course

                  When I duplicate a course that I (or someone else) has taught before, the learning objectives are often identical, yet LS won't copy them. I put a lot of work into writing those objectives last time. Also, on large GE courses the department put a lot of work into writing the objectives and I don't have the authority to make up my own objectives. In either case it will be a pain for me to re-enter the objectives in to the new course. Please let me coy them.

                  • Allow materials other than the Bookstore items in the syllabus

                    When the Booklist was created, it wiped out ALL of my other materials for the class. I am using electronic library resources and had all of the links and information in the Materials section of the syllabus. I now have to rebuild it from scratch again in the Content section. Either post a warning that the Materials area is ONLY for Bookstore items, or don't wipe out additional materials when the Booklist is approved.

                      If I want to take advantage of some advanced scoring options (such as numeric ranges), I would like to ensure that the scoring works properly BEFORE I give the exam to the students.

                      Unfortunately, when I take the exam, I can't see my answers. So I have to have a TA take the exam, which then lets me see their answers. THis means the TA and I both have to spend time working on the exam, which is a waste of resources.

                        • Notify professor when a student drops after the add/drop deadline

                          I was wondering if there was any way that Professors and TAs could receive notification when a student drops the class after the add/drop deadline. Every time that a student drops the class, I never find out until I go to enter in their test or homework grade, only to find out that they don't exist on the rolls any more. When they drop the class, I'd prefer not to have to grade their tests/homework, just to shred them when I find out they're no longer in the class.

                                Joel noticed when uploading content to his Content tab in Learning Suite that he is only able to select one file at a time to upload. Joel would like to have the ability to select multiple files to upload all at once.

                                    It would be helpful if instructors could group all available sections together when posting the content, but could then allow TAs the option of customizing their own sections after that. Otherwise, I'm required to separately post all 14 sections using the copy content function. This would be fine except that the copy content function apparently changes the schedule for each section based on each section's meeting time. So if customization isn't an option, can there be an override of the system's schedule adjustments when copying content? Something like, "Maintain scheduled dates when copying content?" or something?

                                        Sometimes you want to wait until grades are entered for the entire class or all the assignments until you release them for students to view. Or maybe you want to return an assignment before releasing grades.

                                          I do something in my class that I suppose is very common: I post my PowerPoint slides under a "content" page. That process is basically fine, but here is the problem: if I make a change in a file and I need to upload the new version to LearningSuite, "insert file" will not simply replace the old version. Instead, it throws an error: "File (filename) already exists." To work around this, I have to go out of my course, go to "my courses" to the file management area, find the correct file (Be careful not to delete the wrong file!),…
