  1. Make the My Courses ribbon also show the course names

As I get nearer to the end of my BYU experience, I have more and more courses that all come from the same department, which can get confusing. It would be nice if the My Courses ribbon listed the course names (or let me add something), so I can keep things organized in my head!

  2. It's a headache to sign in every 2 hours.

I keep 5 tabs constantly loaded on my computer, and while I'm in school, one of them is Learning Suite. But I hate that it times out every 2 hours. That basically means I have to click through the login every time I use it (after each class). I don't constantly have to sign in to Gmail every time I load the page. And that's the same behavior on all my favorite apps--once the device is trusted, it stays logged in. I would love to skip the unnecessary steps of having to approve the sign-out message and then sign back…

  3. BRING BACK FULL MONTH VIEW OF COMBINED SCHEDULE ASAP PLEASE

I turned on Learning Suite today to look at my Combined Schedule, and noticed it had changed, and no longer supported a full month view of the schedule, it only allowed for a 5-day view or 7-day view. I always use the Combined Schedule to plan out my future weeks, and I hate having to click through weeks to figure out what's going on, I just want a monthly overview. Please change this back ASAP.

  4. Add keyboard shortcuts

The current click-based UI slows down effectiveness. If there were more robust keyboard shortcuts to navigate and interact with Learning Suite my college experience would be entirely revolutionized.

  5. View ALL past classes

As of this date, you are allowed to view your past courses from exactly one year back. Currently we are in Winter 2020, meaning I can see Fall 2019 (the semester we just finished), Spring and Summer, and back to Winter 2019. However, I was attempting to look back at some Powerpoint slides from Fall 2018 (just over 1 year ago) and it doesn't show up. This feature would be nice for upperclassmen like myself trying to studying for the MCAT who have been here at BYU longer than 1 year...

  7. Make the Message System pop up without taking up the whole window.

When I click the message icon from the home screen of Learning Suite, the message window takes up the whole screen. I would prefer the message window to pop up in a modal format, or some other way that doesn't take up the whole screen and that loads more quickly.

Reason: Often, the messages aren't critical, and it feels like more of a distraction if I "navigate to another window" (which is what the experience feels like) and then realize the message wasn't important and I have to "navigate back". Perhaps the message could open up in a "chat" format…

  8. Headers in Chronological Order

It would be great to be able to reorder the headers into chronological order instead of alphabetical order. This would also be a fantastic feature in the grid view of the combined schedule, so it was like an actual calendar of my schedule.

  9. Give TAs option to select student view as default

As a student, I MUCH prefer the student view over the instructor view, especially with the easy access to the combined schedule. I wish I had the option to change the default view back to student view instead of instructor view. Also, I still have instructor view even though I'm no longer a TA. I just want my beloved student view back and defaulted. :(

  10. Link or view of Professor's personal class websites

I really hate it when Professor's choose to have their own website for their classes. The ideal solution would be to require all Professor's to use learning suite (It get's messy when three classes are on Learning Suite and the other two are on their own websites).

Since it is likely not possible to require this, it would be really nice to have Learning Suite accommodations.

    Option #1 (Easier)
Since the Learning Suite is often not published when a Professor has an external website, it would be very helpful to at least link to the external website when you click…

  11. Take away the Presidential Message on the LS landing page

As a web developer myself, I'm appreciative of the functionality LS provides--especially the combined calendar. However, the new "Presidential Message" that appears on LS home page takes away from the stark functionality of Learning Suite. Upon loading, it often grabs my attention as it's the only graphic on the page. However, I've noticed that the image and quote often get distracts and derails me from my focus on my assignments. I log into LS with the goal of looking up an assignment. But when the graphic/quote appears, my thoughts are drawn away from navigating to the specific class and I…

  12. Ability to mute Learning Suite message threads

For when people are organizing group study sessions and study guides. When a chat stream is not relevant to you, have the ability to mute notifications and the number icon showing new messages. This is different from other ideas, because these are not necessarily malicious chat streams, they're just annoying to deal with every time someone messages "same".

  13. Direct Students to the Y-Serve Tutoring Website

The Y-Serve Tutoring program offers free one-on-one tutoring for students for any class on campus. Many students don't take advantage of this great resource just because they don't know about it. If the Learning Suite home page had a link somewhere to tutoring.byu.edu, that could help more students connect with tutors.

  14. make combined schedule the default

i personally think the combined schedule grid layout tab is by far the most useful feature for all of learningsuite, and should be the default home page for every student (people who don't want this as their default home page could change this back to course list). I personally have met dozens of my peers who don't even know this feature exists, or how to use it (especially the checkbox capability). - even though it is a huge productivity booster and helps me make sure I never miss any assignments. My suggestion is to make it the automatic default home…

  15. Simple quality-of-life navigation improvement: show nav bar.

After logging on using either the mobile site or the split-screen version of the desktop site, I have to click (or tap) "all courses" then the class, then that same tab up top (that now has the name of the class) then the tab I want, then that same tab up top to finally scroll down and click or tap on a tab, and if i accidentally click the wrong one then I have to do it one more time. It's not a huge deal, but with my understanding of programming it's probably an easy fix that would save maybe…

  16. Eliminate whitespace at the top of the browser

I have noticed across multiple devices that there is a line of whitespace at the top of the page. I attached an image of this occurring in Safari. I think Learning Suite would look better without the whitespace.

  17. Putting grades on the home page

Put grades on the home page. It will be best. Just do it. I can work more focused on my performance in my courses and ensure that I have a well balanced education. I hate taking 5 minutes to go from page to page to write down my grades on a separate sheet of paper please just put it on the same page for crying out loud. We have automated systems, deep learning, and we can go to the moon but we can't put a summary of your grades on the home page, litterally the worst.

    I sent another review…

  18. Give students the ability to change the order that their classes appear

I am taking one or two major classes, a few GEs, and a few smaller classes. I often get confused when looking at the class codes and it usually takes me about 5-10 seconds to find the class tab I am looking for. I would love to be able to put my most important classes on the left of the bar on top of the home screen and the less important classes on the right.

  19. Put a lifespan on Learning Suite Chats

Learning Suite chat frequently gets full of "one-time chats", such as TA's changing office hours. Implement the ability to put a lifespan on these chats, for example, if the hours are only changing that day, the TA can have the message disappear after 24 hours, or for a group study session, the chat can be set to automatically disappear after the exam date. This would automatically declutter learning suite inboxes in a useful way.

  20. Stop using user's email in FROM field

I would consider this an urgent LearningSuite request. Please read!

When LearningSuite sends emails, it extracts the sender's email address from BYU personal information and tacks that address on to the outgoing email in the FROM and REPLY-TO fields.

A couple of years ago, this wouldn't have been a problem. However, DMARC has become more prevalent; causing LearningSuite emails to be rejected or marked as spam by the recipient's email service.

(If you don't know what DMARC is, it is essentially a filter that will catch any emails which do not come from servers within the recipient's domain. LearningSuite servers…
