1. Move the error notification from directly on top of the course names

A lot of times I'll click on a tab and an error message will pop up, so I'll click out of the message, then try the tab again and it opens. The error notification is right on top of the course names, and it's annoying to have to click the x, then try again.

    • Opening an online (BYU instructure) class in a new tab from learning suite. Rather than the same window.

As a student with an online class, I want to be able to access the class in Instructure via LS within a new tab, rather than opening in the same window causing me to have to open a new window and log back into LS.

Just change the button link from

      *class name*

      to

      <a href="https://byu.instructure.com/" target="_blank">*class name*

and you will have changed my life forever.

      Thx

      • Remove the left navigation bar when viewing the aggregated schedule

This will buy all users real estate when coming to the landing page of Learning Suite when it eventually becomes the main page (which is my understanding is the eventual goal once performance issues are ironed out--it'll be great. Very few know about the aggregated schedule still. :). This might mean some customization away from existing templates, but I think it's well worth the value added to students in making the calendar more usable.

The biggest issue I see is finding a home for 'Course List', 'Announcements' and 'Assignments'. As the Schedule already exists in its own 'class'* with these…

        • Stop Crashing

I think Learning Suite would be much improved if it didn't crash constantly. OIT should've worked out the back end before this program even went live, instead we're still beta testing this crap software several years in.

            • Combined Schedule back to regular calendar horizontal format

It is hard to view the whole week for all my classes anymore because the days of the week go vertically down the side now and I have to scroll over to see what class the assignments are for. The format is just really weird and it's not worth viewing anymore- it's easier to just view the schedules class by class because the format is easier to look at. Can it please go back to what it was?

Hello. Combined schedule view provides two options, one is “grid” this allows you to see the schedule horizontal. The other option “list” which shows a vertical list based on days. There is also an option for both grid and list, where you can select a “5 Days” schedule or “7 Days” schedule. Does this information help the view seem easier?

                • Have default markers to label Quizzes/Exams: 'Open Book', 'Open Note', 'Open Internet', 'Open Neighbor', 'Open Anything'

Frequently I run into issues with knowing (a) which of my quizzes/exams are open-book and (b) what exactly that means! On rare occasions, faculty will include this in the directions for a given exam (instructions that appear *before* you have opened the exam) but frequently it either is unstated altogether or has to be dug up in the syllabus. It could be worth considering adding default Boolean values for a few common exam 'markers' that could also have an associated description for times when there might be further confusion (the title of this item suggests a few). Easy-to-scan icons could…

                  • Add class homework assignments

Say for example one of your teachers does not like learning suite, and decides to post all of the due dates for assignments on a printout. It would be awesome to be able to manually add classes not included, as well as add assignments manually.

                    • stats

Currently, there is a way to view stats for individual assignments, quizzes, exams, etc. There should be a way to view stats for all sections of the class. For instance, how am I doing on the in-class quizzes compared to the class? What about for the written homework? Right now I can only find stats for individual assignments or my overall grade in the class.

I've sent e-mails to the class before without realizing I had no recipients selected. Can I get a warning if I have no subject or recipient? Where do recipient-less emails even go?

                            • Headers in Chronological Order

It would be great to be able to reorder the headers into chronological order instead of alphabetical order. This would also be a fantastic feature in the grid view of the combined schedule, so it was like an actual calendar of my schedule.

                              • Simple quality-of-life navigation improvement: show nav bar.

After logging on using either the mobile site or the split-screen version of the desktop site, I have to click (or tap) "all courses" then the class, then that same tab up top (that now has the name of the class) then the tab I want, then that same tab up top to finally scroll down and click or tap on a tab, and if i accidentally click the wrong one then I have to do it one more time. It's not a huge deal, but with my understanding of programming it's probably an easy fix that would save maybe…

                                • Connect the schedule to the materials used that day

It would be great if the uploaded materials used in class could be synchronized with the schedule. What I mean by this is that it would be great, for example, if I could just click a part of the class schedule for that day and that click will take me to the materials used on that day so that I don't have to look for the materials uploaded in another folder somewhere in the Learning Suite.

                                    • Change arrows on aggregated Schedule to both be to the left of the date range.

The position of the current arrows on the aggregated schedule are affected by the dates of the week because they appear to the left *and* right of the date range. When transitioning between months, the date range item changes from something like "January 20-24" to "March 31-April 4". This increases the size of the date range which pushes the right arrow to the right. When trying to move through weeks quickly the behavior becomes frustrating as you have to move the position of the cursor to play hide-and-seek with the moving arrow. ;) A number of other calendars handle this…

                                      • Change (aggregate) Schedule Dropdown Settings to Show Course Tabs, not Settings.

Concerning the arrow dropdown menu on the row headers of the aggregate schedule that currently lead to selecting content columns (for instance: "lectures" and "homework") for a given course:

                                        (1) These settings, I believe, are probably very rarely accessed (I'd guess at most a few times a semester if at all for most users though I don't if anything is in place currently to track this). They could potentially be moved somewhere a little more remote. I believe this dropdown could be repopulated with much more useful (and frequently accessed) content and features, even if these remain as a last…
